What to Expect as a New Patient at HealthCARE Express

If it’s your first time here, here’s exactly what to expect as a new patient at HealthCARE Express — from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. No appointment, no referral, no guesswork. Just walk-in urgent care that’s built to be simple.

Do You Need an Appointment?

Short answer: no. Walk-ins are always welcome, and most patients just come in whenever it works for them — before work, on a lunch break, or after a long day. If you’d rather plan ahead, you can book a visit, but you never have to. Come as you are, whenever you need us.

What to Bring to Your First Visit

A few things make check-in faster: a photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, a list of any medications you take, and a payment method for any copay. Don’t have insurance? That’s okay — we’ll walk you through your options before anything happens.

What Happens After You Check In

Walk in and check in at the front desk — that’s the whole first step. From there:

  • We’ll get a little information to set up your patient file.
  • A team member checks your vitals and asks what brought you in.
  • You’ll meet with a provider who listens, answers your questions, and builds a plan with you.
  • Before you leave, we’ll make sure you know your next steps.

Most of the time, you’re in and out faster than you’d expect.

“A first visit shouldn’t feel intimidating. Our whole goal is to make you feel taken care of from the second you walk in — like you’ve been coming here for years.”

— Dr. Spencer Reynolds, HealthCARE Express

Services You Might Not Expect

Urgent care can do more than most people think. Depending on your symptoms, your first visit might include on-site X-ray or imaging — available at many of our locations, so you can often skip a second trip across town. And while you wait, many of our lobbies are built for comfort: relaxed seating, TV screens, and at select locations, a coffee bar and a small retail shop. We want the wait to feel less like a waiting room and more like a break. Learn more about our urgent care services.

How Long Does a First Visit Take?

Most new-patient visits move quicker than a traditional clinic. Walk in, check in, get seen, and head out — often in the same window you’d spend just waiting somewhere else. We serve communities across Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, and at busier times — like flu season at our Texarkana and Longview locations — wait times can vary, so walking in earlier in the day is a good tip.
