Pure maple syrup is as high in sugar as most of the artificial stuff, but unlike the artificial syrups, pure maple syrup is rich in minerals and antioxidants. Pure maple syrup contains calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, and manganese! Darker maple syrup is even higher in antioxidants than lighter syrup.
