We’ve all been there. You stayed up all night studying for a final, you were kept up by your new baby, you kept tossing and turning because you just couldn’t seem to get comfortable. However, it happened to you, you made it through the night with hardly a lick of sleep. On your way to work or class you stop by the nearest convenience store and pick up the biggest can of an energy drink, you can get your hands on. If you’re like most people you drink them for the energy boost, but have you ever stopped to think about what’s actually in the drink? For example, did you know your average energy drink contains a teeth-rottingly high amount of sugar? Most have 27 grams, to be exact. That’s almost as much as some of the sodas on the market!

So, next time you need an energy boost consider grabbing a healthier alternative. 

 Here’s a quick recipe for a smoothie that will provide you with sustainable energy all day long!

 Ingredients

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1 cup of spinach or kale
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1-2 tsp of matcha powder
  • 1-2 tsp of honey

Directions

Add all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth! It’s as simple as that!

 All the ingredients in this smoothie are full of vitamins and nutrients that will fuel you all day long. Matcha contains a small amount of caffeine, so you’ll still be getting your fix!
